DICOM Working Group 26 develops the pathology parts of the DICOM standard. Its connectathons put scanners, archives and viewers from different vendors on one network to check that they really interoperate.
At the WG-26 Connectathon at Path Visions 2020 and the WG-26 Hackathon at Path Visions 2021, Slim demonstrated interoperability with various image acquisition and management systems. The README shows brightfield and fluorescence test images from Roche Tissue Diagnostics, 3DHISTECH and SamanTree Medical scanners.
What it shows
A viewer that only understands one vendor’s format locks a lab in. A viewer built on the DICOM standard and DICOMweb works with any conformant scanner and archive. The test images from these events are publicly available on the NEMA server at medical.nema.org.
