About
An open viewer for open, standard pathology data
Slim started as the slide microscopy viewer of the NCI Imaging Data Commons. It shows that whole slide images and the results computed from them can be stored, shared and viewed with nothing but the DICOM standard.
DICOM in, DICOM out
Images, annotations, segmentations and parametric maps are read from and written to DICOMweb archives as standard objects. Your data never ends up in a format only Slim understands.
Zero footprint
Slim is a static web app. There is no server component to run beyond the archive you already have, and nothing to install on the reading workstation.
Built in the open
Developed on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license, with a published DICOM conformance statement and a peer-reviewed description of its design.
Team and funding
Developed and supported by the NCI Imaging Data Commons
Slim is built and maintained by the Imaging Data Commons team, which has been funded in whole or in part with Federal funds from the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, under task order no. HHSN26110071 under contract no. HHSN261201500003l.
The NCI Imaging Data Commons is a node of the Cancer Research Data Commons, which provides secure access to a large and growing collection of cancer research data.
Contributions are welcome from anyone. See the contributing guide to get started.
